If you have done really well and are coming from a disadvantaged background, you don’t need to worry about obtaining a government scholarship. But governments scholarships are mostly partially funded and comes with its own set of hectic rules.
You can take the scholarship exam for engineering in India where you can apply for the scholarship and take an ensuing examination. If you do really well and score one of the highest marks in the examination. Your whole education will be funded by them. I think national talent hunt exams like these will do really well for all the deserving students irrespective of the background they are from.
I am assuming you have scored really well in your exams when you meant “with flying colours”. Most of the scholarship for engineering students in India are given to minority, disadvantaged or disabled students in India. If you are none of them then your chances of obtaining a scholarship are extremely slim. There is indeed some Engineering Scholarship in India which are provided to high achievers but they only partially cover the whole cost of education and you often have to compensate it with something else like loans. As suggested by @Just_for_sake, engineering scholarship exam in India seems to be some of the few options you have at your table. And AISEE seems to be the most popular of them.
