Is an AWS certification worth it
I’ll go straight to the points:
Is the Amazon Web Services (AWS) certification worth it
YES: they are actually REALLY valuable – if only for the reason that APN (AWS Partner Network) companies have to staff a certain number of people with the Associate and Professional certs to maintain their status. They’re so rare that even large companies have a difficult time finding people with them.
If yes, which? (Solutions architect, Developer, SysOps administrator).
Start w/ the AWS Solutions Architect Associate level certification: if you want to demonstrate that you can effectively design and manage application infrastructure using AWS, then earning an AWS Solutions Architect Associate level certification is the best place to start.
What pay-scale jobs will I be eligible for after successfully completing the certification?
That’s a more complex question but you can get an overall idea by typing “AWS Solutions Architect” on LinkedIn and sort for “Jobs”. I can see more than 30k right now world wide.

ps. Will update this thread as soon I catch new articles on Cloud job market
Some people are regularly called upon to fix things. It is right in families, and it is also true in businesses. There are lots of circumstances in which people who aren’t indeed trained for the job might find themselves in the management of a company’s EC2 implementation, for example. If you happen to be one of those lucky individuals—or if you spend most of your day managing AWS instances—you might consider Amazon’sProgram.
Why do Businesses adopt AWS?
Companies usefor a type of business needs. This ever-growing list includes web and application hosting, big data storage and analytics, backup and disaster recovery, custom projects in emerging areas like IoT and more. Organizations that successfully integrate AWS solutions realize benefits like increased efficiency, cost-savings, higher speed, tighter security, and easier scalability.
Why Get Certified for AWS?
One of the things that many missionaries stress about the cloud is that it’s supposed to be simple to use without dedicated study. The evangelists aren’t wrong, per se, but setting up a cloud is different from running a cloud that supports plenty of users and customers with five nines’ worth of uptime—which is what the actual business needs.
It is Achievable:
Getting a certification does not need to be like going back to college? Sitting for the Associate Level AWS Certification exam costs USD 150. Higher levels cost USD 300. While the exam will test your knowledge, it’s achievable to gain that knowledge using free or low-cost resources while keeping a full-time job.
It’s the Only Game in Town:
As of December 2016, AWS exceeded the market share of its ten familiar competitors (combined!) by a portion of ten. There is no metric in which AWS doesn’t restrain its nearest competitors. This dominance is so complete that it is about not worth it to become certified in Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
People with cloud skills are always in massive demand. A majority of companies now find themselves in severe competition when it comes to hiring people with enough cloud skills to keep the lights on—and avoid human error-related shutdowns. Get a cloud certification on your resume, and you could go places. The averageearns more than USD 125,000 per year.
How to Get an AWS Certification?
AWS currently offers three consecutive levels of certification: Associate, Professional, and Specialty. You have to achieve certification within the Associate level before you go on to the Professional level, for example. There are three certifications within each level. Within the starting Associate tier, aspirants can choose:

- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional

- Deployment and Provisioning
- Data Management
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional:
A professional AWS architect is someone who can evaluate an organization’s needs and make architectural guidance for completing and deploying applications on AWS. Theneeds a high degree of technical skill and experience designing AWS-based applications.

Which of these should you pick? The first certification focuses on infrastructure and architecture, the second on application development, and the third on systems administration. Benefits of AWS Certification
1.Benefits of AWS certification for individuals:
Certification is a matter of demonstrating your skills and establishing your credibility. Achieving credentials could open doors to get heavily involved in AWS-related projects, or present to clients as a credible subject-matter expert. Of course, if you’re job-hunting, just having ‘AWS Certified’ on your CV won’t get you hired, but it could help you get you past various gatekeepers and into an interview room. Businesses don’t always have an easy way of testing the competencies of a job applicant. Also, they may be sifting through tonnes of CVs, so having the certification certainly gets you the wanted attention. An extra bonus is a swag you receive from AWS Summits and conferences, although I’m not sure I can justify that as a reason to get certified.
Does having anguarantee you more money is a question you may be asking? Now, this is very difficult to comment on, but this year’s Forbes report, which revealed the highest paying certifications (in the US) lists AWS as Number One!
2. Interests of AWS Certification for Employers:
Having AWS-certified employees helps to know skilled team members and reduce the risks when performing projects on AWS. Having AWS-certified employees can also help you to build your business, as it is one of the models for the higher tiers of membership in AWS Partner Network. Being a member of the APN gives access to a wide variety of benefits, including training subsidies, AWS usage credits, marketing support and much more.

The Future Is Now with AWS Certifications
One of the most popular sections of Annual Report is the list of the highest paying certifications. Spoiler alert for AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate comes in first with an average North American salary of $117,773. It also ranks fifth globally at $87,463. More generally, AWS-certified IT staff in the U.S. and Canada make nearly 30% more than the industry average for certified professionals.
There’s big money in, which tends to outpace other cloud certification salaries, but there is more to the cloud than dollars and cents.
Develop Skills to Maximize Your Cloud Investment:
The experts were all in agreement about the value of training and certification, especially when it comes to AWS. Exercise jumpstarts the process of getting into the cloud, hopefully giving the student enough guidance to avoid stupid errors. Certification seeks to guarantee a standard level of expertise, meaning that students and their organizations are not continually re-inventing the wheel.
Because employers know the work that goes into the validation of skills through training and certification, it leads to a more significant financial payoff for those pursuing expertise in AWS technologies. Certification proves you know how to do the job, and AWS Certification provides this better than most because you can’t just memorize the documentation and pass. These credentials require hands-on experience, practice, and study before sitting for the exam.
The experts have also seen how training and certification can help individuals and organizations with cost optimization in the cloud. Cloud economics are distinctive from traditional IT project and infrastructure economics. Project success depends on understanding the differences and architecting cloud solutions to reach financial goals.
The Attraction of Cross-Certification:
Never let it be said that individuals who are AWS Certified are gratified to coast after an opening sequence of training. When asked about the value of cross-certification given the dominance of AWS in the cloud marketplace, the panel was mostly in favor of pursuing multiple certifications once an IT professional has a strong foundation in AWS principles.
AWS is the biggest cloud provider with the perfect vision. The future is the cloud, not on-premises, so take the time to learn new skills while you still have a job. This is mainly necessary for positions and those that are not needed or at least far fewer required such as storage and virtualization administrators. Cross-certification on multiple clouds is a broad idea as the landscape changes constantly, and many organizations are under some form of order to be in various clouds.
AWS Certified individuals should consider investigating new areas once they’ve achieved initial validation of their skills and knowledge in what is currently thought to be the gold standard of cloud technologies.
Three Critical Areas for AWS Skills Growth:
The three essential areas for skills growth for those attempting to take their work with AWS and the cloud to the next level: architecture, performance tuning, and cost optimization.
After all, Migrating to the cloud is not a step function. It is a never-ending journey of incremental growth upon the implementation. Change is inevitable, and that is why continuous training matters.
The message is clear that the best way to achieve and maintain a foothold in the cloud is to learn the ins and explanations of AWS through training and certification.
